Described as "a cross-genre meditation on what it means to be Korean/American and write", this looks like a quick read - 113 pages, lots of white space - but the material is intense and fascinating so it might take a while. I particularly recommend “yet another origin story but with punchlines” and “some notes about where I’m from, framed as a discussion of genre.” I discovered two booksI now have to add to my TBR list, as well as an interesting twist to Jack London and some linguistic, culinary, and social history. I love the way this guy writes, even when I'm not sure what I'm reading - but that's what cross-genre means.

Lyrical and unrelenting. Heartbreaking and life-affirming. Draws you in and pulls no punches. Honestly, I think everyone should read this. It's an awful cliche to say any book will make you a better person, but this book will definitely make you think about it.
