Enjoyed it but I kinda felt more stressed reading it haha!

I thought this would be a 4- or 5-star read. The first few chapters pulled me in—they were packed with fascinating insights, both academically and practically. I was excited to keep going.
But somewhere around page 30, I hit a wall.

The book started to feel repetitive, and while it hinted at some big takeaways or solutions to come, it just kept circling the same points. I started losing interest fast. I think what disappointed me most was how much it promised upfront—like it was building toward something huge—but never really got to the point (at least not within the part I read).

It also started to feel like it came from a place of privilege. It talks about stress in marginalised communities, which is important, but it didn’t seem to offer much in terms of how to help or change anything. That felt like a missed opportunity.

So I stopped reading. Not because it wasn’t smart—it is—but because I wasn’t getting what I came for, and life’s too short to push through 400 pages hoping it gets better.

Read this for school. Really enjoyed the class. And I learned a lot from this book

Unexpectedly engaging and frightfully relevant. This is a very readable, yet not too-dumbed-down, book about a very important topic - stress, its effects on our health, and how to mitigate said effects. Invaluable. (also, doesn't hurt that Sapolsky makes some very astute comments about cancer, religion, the environment, poverty, with which I definitely concur.)

Way tooooo repetitive

It is perhaps one of the most comprehensive book on stress and it's biological/psychological impact on human body. Although the book is written more of an academic style,  but the humor side of the author prevents the book from becoming a dull academic book. Anyone interested in diving deeper into the effect of stress on various human organs would certainly find this book valuable.
