Loved this enemies to lovers romance! This is a sports romance that is filled with drama, but has heart and soul and tons of heat!! Get ready to have the ice melt!

“You’re mine now, Books. I was playing the long game. Now you’ll never be rid of me.”
Lifting her hand, she ran it through my hair. “Who said I wanted to? Maybe now you’re stuck with me.” She wriggled her hips under me.
“Looks like we’re stuck together, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

I'm a huge sports romance fan (especially hockey) and enemies to lovers so this was right up my alley.
I was hooked from the prequel(read that first),Declan and Mak had awesome chemistry and their back and forth ribbing and button pushing was fantastic I just loved them.
I'm super curious to Avery and Emmett and their complex story.Maya Hughes is a new to me author and this was a great start to the series!

This was kind of an impulse read and honestly I didn't think it was that great. The relationship was really underdeveloped, like it felt like these two went from bickering constantly, to suddenly being in love with one another, it was kind of jarring. The characters, plot and romance were very cliche and I think the ending was a bit too dramatic. Also, there was a bit too many steamy scenes in here for my liking. Steamy steams can be fun, but can you actually throw in a meaningful heart to heart conversation without the characters ripping each other's clothes off. I guess not.

Thinking somewhere in the 3.25-3.5 range but rounding down. I think my enjoyment level decreased just because it took me so long to finish it more than it actually being a bad book. There were times I was obsessed with this book and didn’t want to put it down then times I couldn’t care less and didn’t even want to pick it up. Which I blame on just me being busy-leading to this taking months to finish. It suffered from just my mood reading tendencies so I do feel bad. I think if I would have just read it in a week to two weeks it would have been a 4 star read for me.

Loved everything about Mak and Declan both individually and together. Mak’s struggle with perfectionism really hit home especially in the sense of wanting to get into med school
(or maybe she doesn’t want that now? I’m confused with that. I knew she was just doing it because it was her brother’s dream not hers/our of guilt and the story left off with her wanting to live for herself and she’s happy she has time to figure out what she wants. So is it medicine? I have no idea. I’m hoping the series helps clear that up).
Declan’s struggles with money are relatable and wanting to help his mom was so sweet.
Fuck his dad glad he isn’t trying to prove himself to him anymore.

They had such great chemistry though like WOW! Loved the banter. Loved how much they (especially Declan) loved the other and how it changed them both in such good ways. I only wish they would have realized just how similar they are-they had soulmatism energy but I don’t think it went deep enough for it. I would have loved if it went just a tad deeper than it did. But proud of their growth as individuals and as a couple.

CAN’T WAIT FOR HEATH’S BOOK THOUGH I’M IN LOVE WITH HIM ALREADY!!!
