Didn't really scare me. But superb writing, so descriptive. Poor Eleanor, very poor.

I expected more from something that is labeled as a classic. This was kind of a chore to get through, and I’m not a fan of the author’s writing of dialogue. There were some spooky moments, but overall, it was a chore.

I love Shirley Jackson’s writing style. I seriously couldn’t put this book down. It was different enough from the Netflix adaptation that I couldn’t predict what was going to happen next. It reminded be a bit of The Shining in that the house itself was the one doing the haunting, not some ghost within.
