Heart wrenchingly beautiful. I thought it would be just a typical YA romance but it is so much more than that. I really enjoyed all of the moving pieces and the narrators voice.

You’d have to have pretty good command of Spanish to read this book, which is written in Spanglish. Roxane Gay said this book was good but that it suffered from “narrative drift” and I’d have to agree. It’s very descriptive but the action is slow. I was not enjoying it so I did a 30 minute read to be done, and even still I fell asleep with 2 pages to go.
