Vibed out

I was enjoying this book and feeling appropriately creeped out by Aura’s backstory and angered by the injustices of our world, but did it go off the rails as we went further in or was it just me that was baffled by some decisions both heroines made and tired of the constant, almost gratuitous violence? I get that Aura’s trauma made her susceptible to certain bad decisions etc, but I was still unconvinced by her sheer lack of self preservation. Or Ruby’s. I don’t know, I really wanted to be gutted by their story, but there was just so much despair I was numb? And then the ending just felt hastily tied up so we got even less happy times with the couple. Also, the editing. A guy’s name just changed midway through the book and if I never read the words energy and vibe on page again it’ll be too soon. Sigh, this teaches me to pick up a random book off my tbr with zero knowledge about it. Maybe the time just wasn’t right for this one. Because I did like the well, vibe between Aura and Ruby and they really do set the stage and the kindle on fire.

Wow, what an intense read this was.
From the start, it is dripping with tension and a sense of urgency to either fuck, run, or both. There were many moments leaving my panting, heart (and

4.75 stars This won't be a story for everyone, but it sure as hell was for me. Once I picked this up, I couldn't put it down. It was super fast paced and I needed to know how it would shape out. It's beautifully written and the connection between Aura and Ruby was undeniable. It had twists and turns that almost made me want to already reread it because I'm sure I missed something. Please check the trigger warnings because not only is this a DARK Romance, it's got a lot of things contained within that might shock

Left at 80%.

What bothers me the most about this book is that it is written by a woman and a whole lot of women have given it five stars.
This book makes no sense at all. The writing feels like a dark male fantasy, because no woman in her right mind would consider this amount of sexual violence a turn on. It seems gratuitous at times, but mostly it makes no sense. Besides the appalling amount of typos and grammatical errors, she introduces a scene saying the characters are in the dark and cannot see a thing, and then follows with the characters being able to see detailed body parts.
The main character, Aura, is escaping a life in a very violent -sexual and otherwise- cult, only to "fall in love" with a very sexually violent woman who "enjoys pleasure through pain". Most of the scenes where you're supposed to be turned on just gave me a dirty, disgusting feeling. I don't think any woman would enjoy watching another woman being raped, let alone feel aroused in any way. No sane person would spend a whole night having sex with anybody right after being brutally raped, or be ready for sex after killing someone. Unless you are clearly psychotic.

This book is completely misguided and very badly written. I hope people read these comments before wasting their time reading this book.
