The strangeness is a boon for this mash-up of THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS and HOUSE OF A 1,000 CORPSES, which hits typical horror beats and cliches with intention.

The concept was interesting, but the book was about 100 pages longer than necessary and the prose was overly complex.

The premise of this book was interesting and it should have been one that I really enjoyed, but it was such a slog for me to get through. It was slow paced and confusing at times. The unnecessary flowery language and perspective hopping without warning had me rereading sections over and over again and distracted from the storyline.

I have a feeling this will haunt me for a while! The story wasn't what I expected, in a good way. Nicely crafted, both the story and the atmosphere.

So much unnecessary fluff, I have pillows flatter than this.

Basically winnie the pooh blood and honey meets the wind and the willows
