Excellent YA read about football and steroids. I'm certain this would be a hook for many HS readers.
This was a very quick read...since it was a young adult book. One of my sons read it for school and was talking about it so I thought I would read it. This book told a great story to athletes in any sport-- about the physical and psychological dangers of steroids.

This book was just all right. I felt like there were a lot of things that could have been really interesting that fell flat (the dad's backstory, mom's insistence to not watch, etc.) and the writing was so-so. It was a short and relatively entertaining summer read, but nothing special.
This author really makes you understand how a person could get hooked on steroids. What sets this book apart though, is the ending. Because the author doesn't sugarcoat how hard (probably impossible) it is to live with yourself knowing no matter how hard you tried, you weren't good enough to achieve your dreams.
A book about the effects of steroids on a teenager & the win at all cost mentality.
Riveting read that is sure to hook resistant readers that love sports
I wanted to scream at him, "Don't be so darn stupid!," but that's because the book is compelling. NC Battle of the Books title.
Lots of football terminology - athletes would love it.
