I hadn't read the other books in the Black Lilith series before this book, but I was pleased to see I didn't need to as this works great as a standalone book. We meet Harper, a student working towards becoming a Certified Personal trainer, who needs a second job to help pay for school. She signs up to become an escort. Her first assignment is Slate, the drummer for Black Lilith. Slate is drawn to Harper because she doesn't know who he, or his band is. He has hired her to be his girlfriend for his cousin's wedding back home in Iowa. Slate has made a rule that he will not sleep with someone he is paying, and that drives Harper mad. Jacobs does a great job of endearing us to not only the primary characters, but Slates family and bandmates.
The book was good, fairly well written minus a few inconsistencies. Such as Harper spending half her life to become a personal trainer (which she is too young for this to be feasible), or Slate smelling of coffee when he had been drinking Red Bull and champagne, and a few poor word choices, but they were minor enough to be overlooked. Am looking forward to going back to the beginning in this series.

Sigh, by now I think everyone knows the Black Lilith boys absolutely own me. Slate has intrigued me since book one because it essentially all started with him convincing Mikayla to come on board as a PA. He's always been portrayed as a cliched rocker; sex, drugs and rock n' roll. I always got the feeling there was more below his surface, and Hazel Jacobs just showed me that was true.

Slate needs a wedding date, but with none of his friends able to attend he hires an escort. Lucky for him he gets Harper who is more than perfect for the job. These two have easy chemistry and fit together quite well. Unfortunately he's the client and she's just an escort. They can't possibly have real feelings for each other? This could never possibly work out, right? Read and find out :)

I absolutely LOVE Harper and Slate together. Their chemistry was easy and I found myself smiling at so many of their moments. Things may have been pretty simplistic between them most of the time, but Slate manages to slip in some über romantic moments as well. Their romance is slow burn, but once they finally ignite it's an inferno. Their naughty bits are, HOT HOT HOT!

Slate is way more than I ever expected. I honestly think he may be the sweetest member of BL. I loved getting to see his back story and where he came from and what makes him the Slate he is now. Harper was a fun addition to the story. She had personality without being over the top, and I loved how she was so willing to help Slate with things he didn't even think he needed help with. She fit in everywhere without sacrificing who she was. She had a mind of her own, but knew when to voice her opinion and when to hold her cards.

Of course the rest of the band members and our previous heroines make their appearances. One thing I love about Hazel Jacobs writing is she is all inclusive. This story may not be about everyone else, but you still get just enough of them to feel like it's still their story as well. The Black Lilith boys and their lady loves are a family, and you feel that in the writing. Love it, such great writing!

Loved this story and can't wait for book four. Sigh, finally my baby cakes Dash will get his story. This should be interesting :)
