Narrator sounded like he was reading to a group of toddlers and I wanted to rip my ears off. Disappointing bc the book itself has very good reviews, but I read 90% by audiobook.

A delightful book that is perfect for when you want to read something non complicated that will bring a smile to your face. It's really hard to pull this off correctly - you don't want to bore the reader, but there's not a lot of space for complicated worldbuilding or intrigue. But Ashwick carefully crafts this lighthearted tale, add just enough serious undertones to keep the suspension of disbelief alive, and suddenly there's the end.

The framing is already not suiting the narrative, trying to frame Ambrose as unreasonable, childish, the digs at how he's not socialable or charming just come across as cruel and his 'friends' not liking who he is as a person rather than a flaw and putting him in the wrong it also doesn't fit especially when eli's POV keeps proving he is actively doing exactly what Ambrose is thinking. The way Ambrose's 'best friend' is always forcing him into situations and acting like he's unreasonable. You can tell even the author knew this because
Ambrose punching eli
was so out of left lane and just biazze, followed up by the other characters
immediately butting in trying to force Ambrose to apologise, calling him punchy
instead of creating a narrative that fit and deserved that, the author just brute forced it in. Blah pass
