Flirting with Forever is a welcome return to the Dirty Martini Running Club. Nora is a confident, successful, sexy woman with a large commitment problem (though understandable), and Dex is a single father with a successful tattoo business and a self-admittedly bad record of relationships. Nora kept her love life casual while Dex’s remained dormant while he focused his attention and energy on his daughter, Riley.
I liked how this story was sex positive without any shaming of Nora’s sexual past. She did not feel incomplete without a marriage and/or children. Her relationship with Riley was very sweet. Her relationship with Dex was very hot, and grew sweeter as time progressed. Seeing two people struggling with their histories while debating how much of a chance they could take was very relatable. I really enjoyed the Husband Squad. Most of the secondary characters were well-drawn, in my opinion.
While I liked Nora and Dex, at times I felt a step removed from them. The first third or so of the book dragged for me. I had to take a short break before I could finish it. I think that may partly be a me problem. I never connected as much to Nora as I did to Hazel and Sophie in previous books. Still, it is a good finale to the series, just not my favorite.

I totally want to be Nora when I grow up! She’s put together, fiercely loyal, and the embodiment of female empowerment, and I absolutely LOVE her. I have also come to realize I have a Thing for the single dad trope, because Dex’s relationship with Riley pretty much melted my ovaries. I loved this series and the amazing friendships and found family that make it up! Also, the husband gang cracked me up 🤣
