Remy Pendergast's tale is a seductive blend of gothic horror and exhilarating adventure within the treacherous courts of Aluria and beyond. With a lineage as scandalous as it is noble, Remy stands as a pariah among his peers, an elite hunter entwined with the fate of a kingdom teetering on the edge of a dark abyss. As he allies with the enigmatic vampire heiress Xiaodan Song and her formidable fiancé, Zidan Malekh, against a monstrous threat, I found myself engrossed in the narrative that thrills with its brutal elegance and evokes the chill of ancient crypts and the warmth of forbidden affection. The court intrigue and sinister plots had me holding my breath with each page turn. However, the journey is as humorous as it is harrowing, punctuated by moments of poignant insight and razor-sharp wit.

The brilliance of this novel lies not only in its relentless pace and gothic atmosphere but in its characters—Remy, with his complex heritage and unwavering courage, ascends as a hero for the ages. The romantic entanglements are electric and I am hoping we get more in the second installment with such wonderful representation.

I still love this story a lot but it's getting a 4 this time around. I'm not sure if it's because of the reading block I've been in or what.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Silver under nightfall was full of fantastical political intrigue, a slow burn polyamorous relationship, and an interesting take on vampires, involving scientific experimentation, which I love. Put a laboratory in a book and I’m in. The buildup is slow but that allowed me to really get to know the world Chupeco created, and I’m a sucker for a slow burn anyway. Though it really kept me interested thanks to the character driven story. I felt like I knew these three MC’s, Remy Xioadan & Zidan, and was completely invested in their outcomes. Their banter and realness, and Remy’s slow realizations to anything regarding his worth, balanced out the high fantasy, which I’m not usually a fan of. But it all worked here for me, the vamps, the love story, the politics.

Much thanks to saga press for the free book

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and as I read the first half, I would have given it a 5 star, however there were some character decisions and statements that simply didn't make sense to me. Despite this, I still think it a very good read.
