Ce genre de littérature qui me fait sentir intelligente: me laisse résoudre ses énigmes en donnant juste assez d’indice. Et parce que mon intellect et mon imagination sont en marche, cela ne rend que plus consciente la lecture.

"instead i will say, take me to your trees. take me to your breakfasts, your sunsets, your bad dreams, your shoes, your nouns. take me to your fingers; take me to your deaths. these are worth it. these are what i have come for."

some very beautiful and truncated little gobbets of something visceral that i can't quite explain. i was very touched by some of the content but also can't remember it as the pieces were so short, so i'm in a liminal space where i really enjoyed it but would struggle to tell you a single thing about it if asked. short, witty, and tearing.

Shorter than short stories, these read like cheeky exercises in description and imagination. Thought experiments that provoke while they inspire. The collection is brimming with Atwood's signature charm; her attention to detail, her irreverence, and her creativity. It sparkles like the tiny bubbles in a glass of champagne.

It's a wierd book, disjointed. It had its moments, but I don't know what it was really about. It seemed to miss a zentral theme?
