This book was simultaneously an enthralling and utterly depressing read. The allegations and scandal around hiding them makes the book gripping and keeps you turning pages. All the time though this is a real story about women who were raped, assaulted and then legally and financially pressured into silence. The book makes it clear that while one man committed the assault there were a collection of other people enabling him to continue doing so consequence free. This enabling continued in the face of clear evidence on what was happening. It's quite sickening to process that.

This book was so freaking good. We saw most of this story go on in real time but getting to know what was happening behind the scenes was jaw-dropping. I listened to the audiobook and Ronan did great accents of the different people! Hilarious and great. Just a phenomenal, compelling book from beginning to end.

challenging informative tense medium-paced

This left me feeling both sad and inspired. The lengths that power players go through to silence their victims wasn't surprising to me and by itself wouldn't have made for a very interesting read, but Ronan Farrows first hand account along with other advocates made this a more worthwhile read.

hard to put down

Sigh. A compelling but thoroughly, thoroughly depressing read.

a very important read.

Exceptionally researched and referenced, beautifully written, thrillingly paced, with gentle comic moments to let the reader breathe (I’m interesting! I went to an escape room!”). A horrifying story, all the more for being real. I adore Farrow’s writing, his care toward those who spoke up, and his careful unraveling of a scary international cover up system. An excellent read from start to finish. 4.5 heartbroken stars.
