An Intricate and tender tale about complex family dynamics that slowly folded me into its web.

The beginning felt slooooow and I had trouble picking it up to keep going but finished it in a mad rush because i couldn't renew it on loan from the library and would have been annoyed to not find out the end. Definitely not a must read but I'm glad I persevered and by the last 1/3 I felt like I was reading about real people that I was watching in on from the outside. Made me very much want a sister.

I enjoyed this story that spanned decades of the lives of 4 sisters and a man named William. I disliked some characters, loved others...just like real life. Family is forever.

Це була прекрасна історія, подорож до своїх бажань та омаж на Маленьких жінок. 
Коли прочитала анотацію та побачила обкладинку, подумала, що трилер, а виявилось напружена історія. Я вболівала за Джулію та Вільяма, була впевнена, що Вільям з тих, кого ведуть, а Джулії потрібно давати настанови, інших вона не слухатиме. Втім, реальність виявилась іншою. Говорити про цю книгу без спойлерів важко. Важко про жінок сімейства Падавано, про їхні життєві вибори та виклики. Вона не менш про Вільяма, який став частиною цієї сім'ї, не жінок, а саме сім'ї. Вона про піклування та про життєві цілі, про все те, заради чого ми живемо. Про мрії та страхи, про душевну близькість та біль. Вона розкриває як один вибір впливає на життя інших, як інший змінює і все йде знову і знову. Приймаючи рішення потрібно розуміти його наслідки, але мене порадувало, що кожна з сестер Падавано обрала егоїстично своє, але її прийняли і за неї раділи. Навіть за Джулію. Матір же... Вона втекла, як і Джулія, в неї не вистачило підтримки та любові до своїх дочок, аби залишитися та спілкуватися. За це найбільш сумно. Головне, що сестри та Вільям були один в одного і змогли прожити щасливе життя
