I really enjoyed reading this to my daughter. She was enthralled with the wild, lawless, powerful Pippi. I was too; my only issue is that this book is a series of vignettes concerning Pippi and her neighbors Tommy and Annika rather than a fully plotted story. Still fantastic to read about this childhood hero from across the pond, and a nice change to our Roald Dahl and Beverly Cleary binge of late.

This wasn't good. I didn't read this as a child so I didn't have the nostalgia factor. Pippi is ridiculous and annoying. The fact that she doesn't have any adults looking over her is something that just wouldn't happen. Her super strength is never explained. I might've enjoyed this as a child but as C.S. Lewis said, “A children's story that can only be enjoyed by children is not a good children's story in the slightest.” Additionally, this wasn't a story with a plot but rather a series of unrelated vignettes. Really disappointing.

A well-written children's story that reads more like a series of short stories than one overall story. There is nothing wrong with that, it does fit the story better. I don't think I would have enjoyed the story more if I had read it first when I was younger. It's a pleasant enough story, just not for me.

Even with not much of a storyline and no real character arcs, this book delighted us. Pippi was just so funny and off the wall that you couldn't help but be entertained and whisked away to her world.
