When He Was Wicked is the sixth in the Bridgerton series, and follows Francesca, who after mourning the loss of her husband for four years has decided to re-enter the marriage mart, at the exact same time that her dear friend and late husband’s cousin - Michael - makes his return to London to claim his earldom and find himself a wife. Michael is the perfect love interest for a romance story. I recommend this book because I adored it and it quickly became my favourite of the Bridgerton series. There’s something different about this book in the way that the man admits to himself from the beginning that he is in love, but it’s the woman who has to grow into love. It’s a beautiful story, a mixture of sadness and tragedy, humour and friendship, love and lust. The way the romance unfolded was just perfect and I believe the storyline is an important and realistic one. If I could give this more than five stars, I would. ‘He could live without her love, but not without her happiness.’
