This book was life changing for my during graduate school and still is today. It follows a man and his son through a long physical journey through the United States on motorcycles. They take the scenic byways, the back roads, the unexplored areas of our country. They fix their motorcycles and wax philosophic. The is a wonderful discussion about classical verses romantic thought! So much fun and so enlightening.
I've become a fan of road trip stories. Maybe I always have been, just had to read a few to label myself a fan of the genre. While definitely a road trip, this tome covers quite the inquiry into values, mechanical, self developmental, emotional, academic, philosophical, general. Hits many that weren't expected from me from my initial judgement of the e-book by its cover. Emotional gutpunch in the afterward.

DNF. Got to chapter 11 and was quite bored. This just isn’t my style.
I put this on my "to read" list because it's a classic. I really didn't know what I was getting into.
I'm glad I read the book. It's a unique look into mental health that takes turns that I certainly didn't anticipate. There were times when I felt the story dragged but then it picked up. Be sure to read to the very end.

This book will have me thinking for a while, which is good because it took me a while to read it.
A split between a narrative of a road trip and a monologue on Greek philosophy, I found it a little dense at times and wishing it was shorter. But I was compelled to finish this book and I'm glad I did. The story is satisfying and the introduction to philosophy is informative.

I read this in my twenties and it changed my approach not just to bicycle repair (I've never owned a motorcycle) but to interaction with any machine, and interacting with people who interact with machines. The meditations on "what is quality" are not meant to provide a concrete answer, IMHO. It's not always an easy read, but I encourage you approach it as a way to gain perspective.
