ebtdean's review against another edition

DID NOT FINISH

Yep. I'm done trying with this book, made it to page 154... This book is clearly not for everyone.

Man patika. Daudz ko nesapratu; bet vietu, ko sapratu dēļ, pārlasīšu.

Interesting sometimes, annoying others.

This one is due to be re-read, assuming I can muster the commitment.
informative medium-paced

I started skipping all the Phaedrus stuff in favour of the road trip and have come to realize I've skipped half the book already. I shouldn't have to read reviews to figure out what's going on and his philosophy is quite convoluted. Not for me.

Somewhat slow but very quotable

It's hard to encapsulate my opinion of this book into a star rating. I enjoyed reading it quite a bit because I love following philosophical arguments and trying to see if they hold up or make an error. However, I definitely did not agree with the author's conclusions in this book, which made it of limited value to me. The way it is written is quite unique for a book of philosophy - half philosophical argument, half strange novel in which not much happens. I probably could have done without the novel part of it, but the author does do a good job of creating a certain atmosphere with the story.

Loved it. More detail later.
