I'd been enthralled with this in high school but returning to it as an adult is... interesting. I didn't care about Tris the entire book, and found myself only invested when the story involved Four. The writing felt contrived and a lot of the concept was just really cringey, especially with Tris not knowing what the word Divergent meant for two-thirds of the book. World building was nice though.

I absolutely loved this book! I read 427 pages in ONE day and finished the book, that's how much I loved it. Would recommend.

Read for the first time when I was 13, an edit came up on my fyp and I thought I would re read again, even though now I mostly don't gravitate towards YA fiction. I regret nothing. 13 year old me had good taste.

 The book reads well because the author has a very good writing style. The story was readable, and exciting and plot twists were not exaggerated. The main heroine was sympathetic to me, and I also liked how the book was finished.
