“I didn’t realize how much of myself I was giving away or how much of me was disappearing until I turned on a light and couldn’t even find my shadow.”

It’s hard to judge or rate someone’s cathartic poems. But wooheee. Some of these are intense. The way she acknowledges the toxicity of an abusive relationship but also the inability to actually leave. Give it a listen- Megan reads them herself.

I liked the idea of this set of poems more than I liked the execution. It is raw and some of the poems did hit some feels but some reminded me of like poetic thoughts someone would jot down in their notes app. I appreciate the attempt and her honesty.

I wasn't sure what to expect but Megan literally tapped into my female rage and pain and had me ready to burn the patriarchy. I appreciate this inside look of her inner self. It created a new level of respect and empathy. I love her strength and believe many other women will find strength and healing in her words.

An emotional one for sure. It’s clear this was cathartic for Megan. I really wish I had read the physical copy because the audiobook made it sound and feel corny.
