I've read this a bunch of times, but this time I read the Annotated version and while there is a TON of information, I really enjoyed it! It's fun to see how MUCH painstaking research and work went into the script and the art of this brilliant book.
Re-read. Definitely took in more about what it was intending to do than I did when I first read it 10 years ago. Still timeless.

I hated this book. I know I was "supposed" to like it. Like it's apart of nerdom or something but I hated it. I've never read a Alan Moore comic so I didn't really know what I was in for. If I did I probably wouldn't have read it.
I finished it, but I felt like it was a big waste of my time. I couldn't believe that Veidt was the "villian." He wasn't in the comic enough for me to care about him let alone suspect him. I wanted Laurie to be the killer.
I kept trying to read deeper meaning into the stupid pirate comic inside the comic. Why? I don't know? I didn't figure anything else out with it. Sure some people saw meaning behind it. But not me...I guess I'm not deep.
Sorry for the rant.

Truly one of the greatest stories ever told. The craft in Alan Moore’s writing is “extraspatial.” I really have no words for this book and the way it made me want to read further.
Hmm, what to say. I read this AFTER I saw the movie, which was sacrilege according to some fellow geeks on Twitter, but my definition of "Geek" is someone who doesn't do what people PRESSURE them to do :P They love what they love. So anyhoo I read this and I can summarize this way:
The Movie did a great summary of the plot while formulating a story that missed the subtext of the graphic novel entirely.
I enjoyed both, but after reading the graphic novel, it's almost sad how the impression you take away from the movie is nothing of what Alan Moore was trying to say about the world, society or these characters. So interesting.

I have no idea why I put off reading this for so long. At first I was interested but when the story gets going and the characters are opened up to the reader, it gets really interesting. Great ending, great story, great characters.
