It felt like reading badly edited fanfiction. The idea was there but I couldn’t get through it because it needed at least another round of editing.

This started up a little to slow and predictable. Eventually I got into it and really enjoyed the story. The next book on the west wind makes me very curious cause at the end of this one he is messed up to say the least.
This was just not it fam. It lacked everything from likeable characters, to world building, to plot.
Now I’m not a doctor but I am pretty sure that wine is the wrong kind of alcohol to clean and disinfect a wound with, 10/10 would not recommend.

The North Wind is your most basic snarky mortal hunter gal x ancient dark king ACOTAR knockoff.
Even allowing some grace for the messy regurgitation of Greek myths combined with Beauty and the Beast (why this book has both is beyond me), the chapter-to-chapter storytelling is extremely lazy, the plot has zero urgency, the various moments of emotional catharsis at the end are totally unearned, and the female main character has not a single cell of originality inside her. The love interest is only slightly more fleshed out, but at the end of the day he’s just a handful of tired tropes tucked under the obligatory mop of dark hair. Don’t let the two and a half sex scenes fool you; this is a YA novel standing on its tippiest tippy toes to pretend it’s adult.
TL;DR—this book contains both the phrase “our tongues dueled for dominance” AND a dictionary definition of love as a chapter epigraph, so that should tell you everything you need to know about its quality. 💀
A wonderful slow burn with a perfect blend of world building. I loved the yearning!
