The biggest reason was that I wasn’t a fan of the narrator.   On top of that, I really disliked Wren.  It started strong and I was interested, but her character rubbed me the wrong way, and mix that with the narrator’s voice, and it just wasn’t worth it for me.  Which sucks because I was excited for this one since it’s a stand alone that’s supposed to has beauty and the beast vibes.

I read the books out of order after getting a copy if the West Wind from NetGalley. I absolutely loved the West Wind’s story and wanted to know more of the four winds. I am so glad I picked up the North Wind because I enjoyed his and Wren’s story. I loved the world building and the growth the characters have and how layered they are. Initially I was not a fan of Wren or the Frost King and saw no hope of this possibly working. But as the story progressed I could see the relationship build in a slow burn. Overall I enjoyed the book though I wish some parts had been touched on more like how he got her book, the darkwalkers and the ending. The ending felt a tad rushed but I still enjoyed the story. I would definitely recommend this to anyone interested in a Beauty and the Beast retelling.
