i do wish she’d expounded more on her arguments rather than presenting facts as self-explanatory, just because i love her writing style, but highly important book in today’s climate.

I can admit Sontag’s critical theory writing is foundational for me as a thinker and an artist. Few understood the problems of the proliferation of the image quite like her. This is really one of her best polemics, it makes us question the ethics of our consumption and what we believe to be a natural habit of ingestion and re-examine it as a learned behavior that is making is less sensitive to not only the world but also ourselves. This is a classic.

erstes buch 2025, wieder aufgenommen nachdem ich mit toni civil war angeschaut hab und verstehen wollte wieso sich jemand für kriegsfotografie entscheidet. noch immer nicht ganz klar - denkanstoße geben, aufforderung nachzudenken. kritik an kriegsfotografie: abstumpfung und zynismus. kann nur von privilegiertem teil der bevölkerung ausggebübt werden die selbst noch nie krieg erlebt hat. spannend: leidende wollen dass ihr leid geteilt wird (sarajevo) aber nicht mit dem leid anderer verglichen wird weil es dann nicht mehr einzigartig ist

Si te has leído On photography es interesante la recogida de cable que hace en algunas cosas. Puede que se disfrute más habiendo leído “Tres guineas” de Woolf (que me leeré próximamente)

En cualquier caso, una lectura muy interesante, sobre todo en el marco de la creciente beligerancia que estamos viviendo.
