genuinely giggled at a lot of these bits, i aspire to be such a well spoken hater. that being said some jokes just didn’t land for me as i am deeply in my soul not a new york girly, but i think i sort of appreciated the challenge of disagreeing w her. i’ve def placed fran on a pedestal in my mind and some of these essays complicated that for sure. like i went from being scared she wouldn’t like me to being pretty positive she wouldn’t like me, but i think that helps me appreciate her writing more.

First, I consider Fran Lebowtz to be a national treasure, but man, this collection of essays. Many are so dated as to be painful.

She speaks even better than she writes, but she writes very well

good to read between other things as a whole book of very short articles is a bit weird. some essays fell flat for me as i just am not a 1970s/80s new yorker but many were fun and clever.
