This book is clearly dated. I’m sure if I had lived in New York at any time this would’ve been more relevant. However at the front of my edition there is a preface written in1994 from Fran. It encourages you the reader to accept the writings how they were intended and as art history. I especially enjoyed the commentary on writers and the writing life! This volume is full of great funny lines although you may have to sift through a few essays that are dated to find them.

Algunas de los artículos están un poco anacrónicos, pero el resto muy divertidos.

Loved the documentary in NY, thought these essays were outdated and sometimes irrelevant. Would be open to more recent work though.

Fran's crackling, acerbic, irreverent wit is in full form. Delightful.

this book was very hard to read tbh. probably because i’m 18 so i don’t understand the jokes as the book more relates to 70s/80s new york life. it definitely feels like the type of book that a hipster would read in a coffee shop and think he’s elite because he understands it and others dont
