A solid introduction to working on the International Space Station and particular aspects of being an astronaut. I recommend looking up the Storytime in Space video (available on YouTube) in which astronaut Serena Auñón-Chancellor reads this book while on the ISS and provides additional context based on her experience. She even turns herself upside down to read a page which is a big hit with students.
Even though the book is written for the youngest readers, upper elementary students stay engaged due to the commentary and the photos which accompany the readaloud. With these older students, I am introducing the concept of primary sources (the reader) and secondary sources (the author) before showing the video. I am not certain I would use this book as a readaloud if I did not have the video, although it is a strong selection for placement in a library.

Cute nonfiction story about what astronauts do. Read this one today to kindergartners for outreach and they all wanted to be astronauts after!
