Blue Sisters by Coco Mellors was heartbreaking and definitely not an easy read, but it is worth it. Please keep in mind that this story deals heavily with addiction, overdose, and loss. It also deals with the fact that addiction itself can be and commonly is a genetic disposition with only one of the four sisters having never struggled with it because she was addicted to boxing instead of drugs.

PROS:
💊None of the addiction that is presented is the same. Each characters struggles are unique and feel more real for it.

As an eldest sister, I was hooked from the very start. The characters were complex and loveable, with heartaches I could feel in my own chest. I enjoyed Cleopatra and Frankenstein, but I loved this one! I look forward to reading more from Mellors.

Four sisters from a family filled with addiction, destructive behaviors, and dysfunction launch into the world and can't quite escape the bond that unites them. One dies unexpectedly, leaving the other three to sort out life without her.

Reading this book was like watching a train wreck but being unable to look away. The sisters aren't likable and make lots of terrible decisions. I could see the vulnerability and desire for love and acceptance running beneath all of the behavior so that this book will haunt me for a while. If you want to read it, check out the trigger warnings first.

Everyone said I would love this book and everyone was right. The last paragraph had me in tears. This is a story about sisters, but it cut so deep. It really makes you appreciate the ups and downs of family… the good, the bad, and the ugly. This one is going to stay with me for a while.
