Holy shit.

First of, One of Us Is Next > One of Us Is Lying.

This book is more relaxed, less tense and suspense than the first one. I really love that this book is not only surrounding the main victims but also other people to avoid any suspicious.

I love that the Bayview Four was also included in this book and omg, Chapter 8 was like "holy shit" and "😩" and Chapter 31 when Nate and Bronwyn made an appearance was totally 😩. And I love that they're out of the high school gossip which makes it a lot more amaze because just like Maeve once said “𝙄𝙩 𝙜𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙨 𝙢𝙚 𝙝𝙤𝙥𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚'𝙨 𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙚 𝙖𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝘽𝙖𝙮𝙫𝙞𝙚𝙬 𝙃𝙞𝙜𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨𝙣'𝙩 𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙡𝙪𝙙𝙚 𝙤𝙣𝙜𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙙𝙚𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙡𝙚𝙙 𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙡𝙮𝙨𝙞𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙗𝙤𝙙𝙮'𝙨 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝙢𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙨.”

Also this book is very different from all the mysterious and crime book I've read because in this book, there's two mysteries that the characters need to solve.

Also can't wait for the third book, the cliffhanger was leaving me on the very edge of the cliff. There is so much explanations that need to be explained because the cliffhanger literally doesn't make sense why he did it.

And I hope for the One of Us Is Lying TV adaptation will be similar to this. If not almost. Because I want to see the new characters on screen.

Tldr; the plot was heavy on the character study and light on the murder mystery, which made it overall pretty boring. A disappointing sequel to a great first book.

Not bad, better than the first in certain ways. I wish the characters (old and new) were a bit more fleshed out. I wanted to know more about them as people outside of the story. I was also hoping for more character development. I’ll definitely be reading the 3rd when it comes out in hopes of more development but I’m not betting on it.

I didn’t see the ending coming though, which was nice (crazy) surprise.

Going into this I was slightly less hopeful after the first book. I thought McManus’ writing was adequate but nothing spectacular. This book felt slightly more interesting to me than the first but I was slightly disappointed in how easily I was able to guess the plot twists. Overall a decent book.

I really enjoyed the second installment of the “One Of Us” series. It was full of some interesting twists and overall very enjoyable. I really liked the ending, as there was a part I was not expecting. However, I did feel like there were a few plot points that were entirely too predictable, and the writing at times felt very juvenile (even for YA). Overall, a pretty good and lighthearted read!
