I’m in love with Elizabeth Strout’s writing! She is as fluid in her narrative collection of short stories as she is in internal monologue. I am equal parts dismayed and uplifted by her honest accounts of humanity.
Anything is Possible weaves a thread through the people on the fringes of Lucy Barton’s life. The novel dwells in the recollection, grief, acceptance, and occasional restoration of all that has passed in life and what people have made of themselves.
“What puzzled Abel about life was how much one forgot but then lived with anyway-like phantom limbs, he supposed.” After it and in spite of it all, Abel knows that ‘Anything is Possible.’

Elizabeth Strout you are better than those “small” jokes…. but I love how Lucy’s stories are sad but still cozy.

This is very reminiscent of Olive Kitteridge - same emotionally complex characters, small town living, etc. I enjoyed it, but not as much as Olive. Lucy Barton makes an appearance in this book - she has her own story that I want to read next.
