The Temporary Roomie is a stand alone sequel to The Off Limits Rule and follows Jessie and Drew as they find their own romance. Jessie is a single woman with a leaking house and a load of worries: the biggest one being that she’s pregnant. She is scared that she is intruding on her best friend, Lucy, and her new family but knows that she has nowhere else to go. Or so she thinks.
Lucy’s brother Andrew is a successful doctor who loves his job- but not the side eye that being a gyno gets him from women. When his colleagues hit on him relentlessly after a forty eight hour shift, he makes up a story on the fly about having a girlfriend to take to the approaching gala. Drew does not, in fact, have a girlfriend, but Lucy has a plan.
Her thought is that Drew and Jessie can room together- Jessie will have the house to herself most of the day due to his long hours, and Drew will have a date to the gala. The only flaw to the plan is… they hate each other.

One thing I want to clear up before I write any of my thoughts on this one is that I did listen to it on audiobook and I would not recommend. The voices that the narrators were making had me laughing and cringing and totally disengaged me from the story. That being said, this book was not my favorite.
Jessie bothered me because she seemed very immature with all of her pranking and flat banter. I could excuse some of it as pregnancy related stress, but you could have told me she was fifteen and i might have believed you based solely on how she acted.
Drew was the better pov, but he had his issues. Specifically, boundaries. I know that there is a time and a place for pushing people’s limits, but Jessie would consistently state boundaries and Drew would shove them out of the way. The best part was that this was portrayed as cute and wholesome.
The scenarios that these two found themselves in also seemed highly ridiculous. Like, of course your doctor friends would invite you and your fake girlfriend on a weekend retreat to their perfect oasis of a beach house. Of course your girlfriend would have her baby two weeks early and on the one night you aren’t home. Naturally.
I just wasn’t sold on the plot, the relationship, the characters. I was interested, but it didn’t hit for me like other Sarah Adams books have. Two stars.
