I absolutely loved the friendship between Kevin and Max. Kevin truly was the friend that Max needed. They were perfect for each other.

I'm so glad Gwen was able to see past Max's size and allow him to befriend her little Kevin. Together they became Freak the Mighty, using their imagination to slay dragons, defeat monsters, venture on quests, and explore the world. What a wonderful story.

of course Kevin had to die 😭😭😭

I loved this book. It is an edgy and entertaining look into a boy's life. I loved the two main characters: Kevin and Max. They're both the kind of kids I would love to play a part in their lives.

Moreso a middle school book.

This was one of my favorite books that I read for school in middle school. I remember both loving it and being gutted by it. This was published in 1993 and there are a couple moments where you can tell it's dated (particularly in regards to the ablest language), but the overall themes still hold up.
