I loved this book. It took me a while to read because life got in the way but it was so wholesome. There were moments towards the beginning where I lost interest as I felt it took a little bit to get to the interesting parts but it was necessary for context.
The characters grew so so much and it was just beautiful. It’s a story about not only love but family, growth & letting go of the past. So wholesome too.

Glad to have finally read this one, but it was wildly mediocre. I read it for the software engineering and the marriage of convenience, and it was neither. It tried so hard to be enemies to lovers, but it wasn't, as if it copied The Spanish Love Deception with a one-sided hatred from a boring and unbelievable reason why. The author also tried so hard to make Daisy so quirky, and I despised it. Unmemorable, literally had to look up the main characters names while writing this, and I just closed the book.

I’m a little scared to read this. I’ve been waiting for it to come out for so long, I had a reminder for it on my calendar and everything but whenever I do that I end disappointed by the book. I truly hope this meets all my expectations and more. Fingers, toes, and eyes crossed.

I could hardly wait for this to be released, I even marked the date on my calendar. A book featuring an Indian, plus size woman as the heroine? Yes, please! Naturally, I had to give it a try, and I am honestly so happy that I did, because Sara Desai is a freaking mastermind, and I absolutely cannot wait to read more of her work. This was everything I ever expected and more! There was banter, there was passion, there was family and drama. I had so much fun reading this and I could safely say it’s going on my 2021 favs.
Our MC, Daisy Patel is a software engineer, marvel fan who has a plan for everything. She’s the type of person that would know exactly how long it would take to go from one room to the other down to the seconds and has a plan for everything. Enter Liam. The leather wearing, Kurkure Masala Munch loving, childhood crush who stood her up at her senior prom and disappeared for 10 years. Imagine her shock when she bumps into him - literally- at her job whilst carrying an armload of pads. One thing leads to another and before you know it they’re engaged. Except, not really.
Fake or arranged marriages is one of my favorite troupes so I was super excited for this one. Daisy is a confident woman who’s size never mattered to her which I truly admired with a cousin for a best friend which we don’t see much of. She has such a crazy family that might suffocate her at times but she couldn’t live without nonetheless and that’s something I very much relate to especially the best friend part.
My favorite part in this were their dates, I looked forward to the spreadsheet and confirmations Daisy sends Liam before every date and how they’re always ruined by something or the other. The story itself was very relatable, it had real people with real problems - even the side characters were relatable. There wasn’t a moment where I wasn’t completely engaged and enjoying myself.
Just one thing that made me give this a 4 instead of a 5, the repetition. I felt Sara would focus on one thing for so long, like Daisy’s weight. We know she’s a plus-sized woman of color and I love that she is but Desai keeps hinting at it without actually saying so. And it happens so often that I got annoyed, these traits do not define who Daisy is. They are simply parts that add up to the whole person. Also the Avengers thing got too old too quickly.
Overall, I really loved this more than words. The sex was steamy and hot. The characters were simultaneously so soft but so very strong. The themes were important and so beautifully woven. And the story was so damn easy to fall in love with.

Chi non ama un fake dating/marriage of convenience? Decisamente non io. Unisci al tutto il fatto che lui è la sua ex crush di quando era adolescente che devo leggere il libro immediatamente.
Il romanzo inizia benissimo, scene stupende, chimica on point e una voglia pazzesca di andare avanti, ma continuando il tutto ha cominciato a calare e a diventare meno interessante.
La parte dove i due sono nella fase enemies è stata meravigliosa, ma quando hanno cominciato ad entrare in confidenza e a diventare lovers la scrittrice mi ha persa, come i personaggi hanno perso il loro charm.
Premesse meravigliose, inizio stupendo, peccato per il continuo.
