Notes: Somewhat "young" in tone but overall, there are cool little twists in how certain characters are portrayed and excellent backstory for the world.
Giving it 4 stars for the overall feel of the story. It's more like 3.5 in my head but the narrator was great and made the story more cohesive.

This book was SO MUCH FUN. I really really liked it! The characters are great, and the world building is top tier. It reminded me of those semi-old school SyFy fantasy shows, and certainly read like a television arc.

The only thing I would say that deterred it from a 5 star rating would be that the plot...isn't quiet there? There's one and does pop up from time to time, but mainly is a character/monster of the week type of book and if you're a plot based reader, this book probably won't be for you. With a book that long I wished there was a bit more of a plot that carried throughout the book, but it does come together by the end. Very much so looking forward to reading book 2!
