I finally picked up this book and wow, why did I wait so long?
This is the story of the peaceful prince of Hed, bound up in a destiny he can’t fight no matter how hard he tries. There are riddles and questions, ancient magics and laws, unknown enemies and a treacherous journey. Will he make it? Will there be any answers waiting for him?
Nobody writes like McKillip. Her prose is dreamy, magical and transportive. The way she weaves a narrative and builds worlds using all the senses fill me up with wonder and anticipation and awe.
This booked sucked me in and held me captive. I loved it. I can’t wait to start the sequel.
