holy shit!!! holy fucking shit!!! i was tugging along, unimpressed, and then i got to act vi and was completely blown away. what a joy to read with biting commentary & delightful ambiguity. i started reading with a distaste for the screenplay formatting but it caught on so quickly. i think some of the anti-Blackness/comparisons of asian oppression to Black oppression was lackluster, misplaced, and in bad taste  for me, but overall, a lovely read

So clever, so fun, so imaginative, so insightful, so good! I devoured this book in two gulps and wanted to read it again immediately.

The audiobook was great, too, with special music and nice stylistic touches by the narrator.

In the world as it currently stands, reading about the experiences of people who are unlike yourself is vitally important. This book is a really intimate and personal look at what being an Asian American is like, which is something I personally could not experience myself. Open and honest but couched in metaphor that keeps the whole thing quippy and moving pretty quickly.
