A wonderful adaptation that remains true to the source while leaning more into Cyrano's flaws and Roxanne's experience. The writing is rhythmic. Modern ideas don't feel 'cringey' but aren't always fully developed.

Man, I LOVED this play! Cyrano was such a lovable character and I feel so sorry for him that he was never able to have what he wanted while doinh so much for the woman he loved. I now wish, more than ever, that I could have seen this live on stage :(
A rich reinterpretation of Edmond Rostand’s play, with an emphasis on the power of poetry more so than love. So moving onstage, as moving as on the page.
Love the revised text, maybe my favourite thing while watching the 2019 show. Reading it just confirmed how much I liked it.

A dazzling contemporary adaptation of Cyrano de Bergerac. The text is poetic and poignant, with Cyrano's flaws being highlighted. Indeed, Roxane's manipulation by the men is given the significance she deserves.
Yet, this still has its drawbacks. For instance, Roxane's false assault allegation gives condemnable credence to such allegations and the play's criticism of free speech feels half-baked. As we know, such 'free speech' advocates in today's society tend to be people wishing to speak hate.
