Have you ever just wanted to run away to sun and the wide open sea? This book a sweet romantic story about moving on from past traumas. The author painted beautiful landscapes with her words which brought me such calm and piece and made me want to plan a trip. It was a quick read that I finished in 2 days, definitely the perfect beach read.

[4.25 Stars] It's pretty rare when I wish for a book to be longer, but I wanted Float Plan to have more pages! This book was great but had the potential to be fantastic if only the characters were more fleshed out. I loved this book, even with its darker tone and themes of grief and suicide. Honestly, I had a difficult time classifying this solely as a romance novel because it felt more like a character work on healing and grief, and then added romance down the line.

The setting of this book is escapist and lush, and I loved how the Caribbean islands felt like their own character. Anna was an interesting FMC, and I also loved Keane as her counterpoint and friend. I appreciated the way Trish Doller wrote Anna's character arc so that when she was ready for a new relationship with Keane, it didn't feel like a band-aid to her grief--it felt like she was wholly ready for it.

Overall, I thought Float Plan was a heartbreaking, but beautiful book. I can't wait to read more adult fiction by Trish Doller!

Content Warning: Book contains mentions of suicide

Anna's fiance committed suicide. Float Plan follows her on a sailing journey where she processes her grief. But she also learns how to move forward in many ways.

Keane saves her (many times) and helps her along in her sailing journey and with her grief.

Reading about these two going from strangers to friends to more is heartwarming. It's not forced and it happens when it feels exactly right for them.

Keane is a NEW BOOK BOYFRIEND!!

With that said, this book heavily dealt with themes of suicide and grief; Anna's perspective was new to me and interesting.
