Have you ever just wanted to run away to sun and the wide open sea? This book a sweet romantic story about moving on from past traumas. The author painted beautiful landscapes with her words which brought me such calm and piece and made me want to plan a trip. It was a quick read that I finished in 2 days, definitely the perfect beach read.

I've wanted to read this book for a while but have put it off because of the heavy premise. I was afraid it would honestly just be too difficult for me to handle mentally, but I'm SO glad I finally took the plunge to read it. While it covers heavy subject matter, at its core, this book is a beacon of hope.

Anna is honestly a badass. While she didn't have it all together at the beginning of the book she literally takes off on a sailing trip by herself with basically 0 sailing experience and that takes some guts. And generally just working through grief takes guts too. Anna's transformation over the story was just really inspiring.

Along with Anna's personal growth, you have the absolute sweetest romance thrown into the story as well. Keane was adorable and charming and loveable. He was the perfect counterpart to Anna and I loved watching them grow and bond together.

I listened to this audiobook literally in one morning (at 2.2x speed). The narrator was wonderful and this is really just a story that you don't want to put down until you make it to the end.

I really appreciated this book in concept. A woman taking her late fiancé's boat on a trip to try and realign her life is a solid story. The characters in the book were fine, I just found myself pretty uninterested in the writing as a whole. A lot of the way things were written was 'they did this. And then they did this. Then this happened.' There was little flavor and color added to many of the sections which slowed down the book and my enjoyment of it.
I appreciated the dedication to ensuring the sailing aspects were truthful, but I think it added an unnecessary rigidity.
I liked the FL quite a bit. I related to her and felt the pain she was going through. The ML was fine. I think he needed one more layer besides Irish + nice + prosthetic. He was a little too perfect imo and that can get boring. There chemistry also felt a tad forced so that was a bummer. I did really appreciate that there wasn't the typical 3rd act conflict/blowout and all of the conflict was an inner or personal struggle on the FL's part.
Also - fair warning that this book just ENDS. There was very little lead up to the ending and then it was over. No epilogue (which would have been really nice to see how the FL was continuing to move on with her life).
Overall, I'm giving this book a 3 because I did enjoy it, it just isn't one I'll probably ever pick up again. I know the author has a sequel coming out this year that I do plan to read because I think her stories are intriguing. I'm hoping this one is a bit less technical.

Despite being a book about a character working through their grief, Float Plan is a light and fun read that will have you itching to travel to the tropics. I enjoyed seeing the progression of Anna and Keane’s relationship. Best of all was seeing Anna come into her own and be able to stand back on her feet. Would recommend!

An easy beach read. I learned a lot about sailing and it was a great escape to read about tropical islands and feel like you are surrounded by the ocean. The book had pretty thorough passages about sailing - so as someone who knows nothing it could be hard to get through - but I'm sure those sailors appreciate the details. Overall it was a really cute story. I feel like Keane and Anna's relationship moved QUICKLY and that they weren't given a ton of time for conflict or to resolve it in the end. It seemed unrealistic.

I honestly wished there was more spice but Keane was charming & interesting and I enjoyed their relationship. We always love a story of a woman finding her own strength to do the things she wants in life.
