+ the writing is very good, lots of beautiful sentences to be found
+ the different lives and observations on relationship dynamics are executed well
+ Queer (mostly gay) Rep
+ captivating portrayal of depression

- love (or more so, obsession) at first sight, and the romance bits can get repetitive as the question of "should we, should we not" is brought up often
- the chapter with a trans character is bad, extremely cis/outdated language
- excruciating, horribly detailed, dehumanizing fatphobia in another chapter...
- no person the protagonist inhabits is ever disabled?

I was sailing through this book until I got to the wildly fatphobic chapter. Trigger and spoiler warning for the following quote:
A describes the 300 pound boy they currently inhabit: "his size comes from negligence and laziness, a carelessness that would be pathological if it had any meticulousness to it. While I’m sure if I access deep enough I will find some well of humanity, all I can see on the surface is the emotional equivalent of a burp."
It really undermines the book's overall message that it's what's on the inside that counts, and reinforces some very harmful and pervasive stereotypes. Pretty much ruined the book for me - and the main thing I remember about it 2 years later.

The premise is fascinating and I wish it was explored more in depth. I was much more interested in that than the romance, and in hindsight the romance is even less appealing -
throughout the book, I assumed the connection A felt to Rhiannon was related to their body-jumping and had some bigger purpose, but that seems not to be the case.

Ultimately the potential of the story made it a page-turner, but the ending left me underwhelmed.

The treatment of a trans character also wasn't great, and overall the book was a little purple prose-y.

Fantastic premise, agonisingly poor execution. Although there is some exploration of the intricacies of waking up as a different person since birth, the bulk of the book is wasted on a completely unnecessary romance and, by the time the protagonist gets close to understanding how and why that's been happening... the book ends--with more romantic considerations, of course. A complete disappointment. I'm glad I got it from the library.
