The books in this series never fail to charm my pants off. I think this installment may have my favorite story since the first book. Ashley Weaver never fails to concoct an enthralling story, but this one had power (literally and figuratively) at the center and ended in a way that I did not see coming BUT that also made perfect sense. I binge these books like no other series I've ever read and I'm always chomping at the bit for the next one the moment I finish. If you like cozy mysteries and have not picked up this series yet - DO IT.

I didn’t like this one as much I still liked it but i’m getting tired of this trope where amory and milo don’t trust each other. it’s a bit played out at this point. and the fact that milo plays disinterested in all of these books

For the most part, I enjoyed this. It was nice to see Amory finally be mad at Milo for being secretive. I found story with the perfumes to be interesting. The ending came a bit out of left field and I'm not sure how I feel about that.

My favorite in the Amory Ames Mystery series so far, although I missed the third (A Most Novel Revenge), and now have to go back and read it. This series is a very comfortable read. Recommended to anyone who likes mysteries, golden age mysteries, and / or British cozies.

Great mystery, but the relationship between Milo and Amory makes me NUTS. I would NOT have fared well in the 1930s. I'll keep reading these as they come out - it's nice to read a cozy every once in a while...

Amory and Milo Ames are attempting to breathe new life into their troubled marriage with a romantic trip to France when a mystery falls into their lap. Madame Nanette, Milo's's former nanny, believes something sinister is going on at her current employer's house and begs them to intervene. Before Milo and Amory can investigate, her employer is dead and Madame Nanette must know the truth.

I so wanted to love this book, but I just can't get over how awful Milo is. He treats Amory horribly and she spends a good portion of the book acting much too forgiving and obliging if his cad-like behavior. Honestly, it makes for a very contradictory read when she is portrayed as a strong woman with the knack for solving murders but yet Aimee's and puts up with Milo.

Another very readable instalment in the Amory Ames series. I'm starting to get a little frustrated that there's no real development in Amory and Milo's relationship - they're still just as cagey with each other as ever and neither is doing anything to move that on/forward. But the characters are interesting and the mystery is good

The fourth book in the Amory Ames series has an intriguing plot--someone has murdered a famous and wealthy French parfumier, and pretty much all of his relatives are suspects, so Amory and her husband befriend them under the guise of creating a custom scent for Amory. I am here for all the perfume talk, but I am not here for the continual marriage problems between Amory and her husband. For four books she has mistrusted him and he has been keeping dumb secrets. I am tired of them going in circles in every single book. Just leave him and go solve mysteries with your sassy maid! Otherwise, this was entertaining, and I liked the end quite a bit. B+.
