While there is a lot of good content in here, especially hearing about the origins of Bridgewater, the organization of the Principles Ray dives into isn't great in audio book format. Sort of like listening to a text book on tape.

The autobiography part was interesting, but the principles part drags on. The book could have been shorter and more straight to the point.

Great book, not all is relevant and some stuff is pretty specific. But really enjoyed the higher level themes.

I'm not sure what all the hype is about. I didn't get anything out of this book.
For me, a lot of the book was dry as dust. However, I do understand it's written primarily as a handbook for future Bridgewater staff and other companies to follow - and how juicy can a handbook really be?
I did glean a few wonderful principles from the book: triangulation of believable experts to advise large decisions, looking at your life like a machine that needs to be fixed if it's not producing results, and working hard to know what you and others are like in terms of personality and giftings.
For me, chapter 2 is the reason the book gets three (really, I'd give it 3 1/2) stars. It's helped me understand how to be practical about planning exhaustively in order to achieve excellence.
Overall, I'm very glad I read this book, even though it was a slog to get through.

Brilliant approach to business (5.5 stars) dragged down only by much less inspired personal anecdotes in the first half of the book (minus one star). So, 4.5 stars rounded up to 5 :)
3.5 stars. Not as profound as I thought it would be. And it was way longer than what was necessary.
