All That Glitter Ain’t Gold

Whew! What a wild, edge of your seat ride! Noemi is better than me, on sight I would have been ready to go. But you do what you must for family. The Doyle’s are indeed a peculiar people leaving in a rundown mansion, living in gloom, doom & silence. Noemi ultimately tests everyone’s wills in the house all to save her cousin and in the end another too. Nightly dreams of gold and buzzing bees, all is definitely not right in High Place. Don’t want to give much away but I highly recommend reading this book.

What a fun read! I loved this book. It reminded me so much of a Vincent Price movie or an Hammer films movie that might have starred Peter Cushing.

let me start by saying this book is DARK. it is a HORROR story. and i LOVED it! it takes you to a place you have never been before, shocks you over and over again. there was a point where i *almost* stopped reading it because i wasn’t sure i could continue & i’m very sure my yoga teacher would have told me to stop! lol. morena-garcia combines old mexican folklore with fairy tales and beautiful prose & enchanted me completely. noemí is a character who will stay with me. but read this at your own risk.

Wow. I LOVED this book. It was totally bonkers and I’m not used to this genre, but I loved the protagonist and how everything turned out in the end. I wish there had been an epilogue.

Accidentally read a horror book! But it was fun and gross and interesting and well-paced and I enjoyed it, I'm pretty sure.
