Adorned By Chi is a story made with love! Made with love by a nerdy, awkward author who cares about anime, especially magical girls.
I love Jacque Aye. I discovered her through her upcoming book (How to Be a Better Adult).

The comic tells the story of 5 magical guardians in a unique and beautiful world! I loved the main character: Adaeze. She feels things deeply, and displays compassion towards everything. Those "crybaby" traits might not appeal to everyone, but I. Love. Her!
As someone that's shy and an empath, I nearly cried at seeing her on page, because I relate to her.

The other characters are great too! Their backstories were interesting, and their outfits were Top-Tier.
One thing is it shocked me that the book ended on a cliffhanger!!! I immediately went "Oh Nooo"
I wish I could read more! There's more that needs to be told!

Even if it's incomplete, I love it. I will always admire the characters and if the author returns with Volume 2, I will buy it ASAP. The author put a lot of love: for Nigerian culture, Sailor Moon, and the awkward, sensitive people that enjoy magical stories.

My first magical girl ( and boy) manga and I enjoyed it.
The book is about Adaeze who I discovers she has magical powers but she's shy and she has to lead a a group of others like her to defeat the bad guy who want to end humanity.
What I liked:
Seeing Igbo mythology and Igbo terms being used ( one time for my Igbo people Igbo kwenu).
i was able to pronounce the of the Igbo names and terms it I think in the next book It would be nice to have a pronunciation guide for readers.
I liked the drawing ooo lordy Emeka is my new 2d boy friend I mean I understand why Gogo is crazy about him.
The mascots are cute And I want a doll of every single one of them.
And the plot is interesting. This volume focused on the character introduction. There's still a lot to cover I mean that cliffhanger is a killer but hey I'll wait, good things take time.

I’ve just finished binging all 5 issues of Adorned by Chi @adornedbychi and it’s more than I could have ever hoped it would be. I definitely need a Peace University tee, because I am in love with this series. This follows Nigerian college students as they are charged with special gifts to preventing the apocalypse. Each character is equally unique and lovable! The graphics are so vivid and the canter is class manga! The overall unique factor is in that everyone is BIPOC, the story incorporates Nigerian vocabulary, and culture! I can honestly say that I have never read anything like this and I am so hungry for more! Have y’all read this yet? I am so open to more recommendations like this! Who’s with me?

I'm currently reading the chapter by chapter comic, and the story and art are new and exciting! I can't wait for the whole thing as one big graphic novel.

I love the magical girl genre and representation is super important to me and many people I know - so my partner had to get this book! This isn't just a great example of black magical girls, but also a dive into a culture that American's usually don't get to meet. Seeing these characters in the story and the world they come from felt so different but so relate-able at the same time. I can't wait for more people out there to discover these characters and I'm eagerly awaiting their next adventure!

It was a good introduction, and it made me excited for the next installments. My biggest complaint is that a lot of the speech bubbles seem too far from their owners/don't have long enough/properly angled tails, and that's a bit distracting/confusing.
