A good book with beautiful art, but it’s not really my jam.

Original Sin was a great introduction to the character of Constantine. You get to see just how much of his character was softened or chipped away when they integrated him. I went in expecting urban fantasy and was pleasantly surprised when I got horror.

Yes, I did watch the film with Keanu Reeves first. No, I didn't hate it (for very personal reasons which I won't go into here). Yes, I did add this series to my "to be read" list partly as a result of that film, although not immediately after as I wasn't into graphic novels at that time, and partly as a result of realising the long chain of connections between the "Sandman" and "Lucifer" series.
Anyway, regardless of how I got here, let's just celebrate the fact that I did and that, of course, I loved this graphic novel.
Some parts were a little confusing to me due to some, now dated, cultural references. As with the Lucifer series (which I think I'm four novels into now) I think I've missed some of the metaphorical and more abstract references. However, that didn't stop me from appreciating some of the messages within. Constantine may be fighting "demons" etc, but that doesn't mean the evil acts perpetrated by them are exclusive to demonic beings.

If you're really religious this isn't for you. John Constantine (Constant-tyne. People got used to the American version) is a bisexual dabbler in the dark arts (there's this joke in either his show or in the comics) that probably has lung cancer.
This story is also really dark and I suggest looking at the content warnings.
