This gives such an amazing in-depth view of how Cinder "belonged" (

Just a short little story, but oh how much I love Cinder. That poor child. I thought I felt bad for her during the series, but this takes place with her at the age of 11 and it just breaks my heart. That poor girl and the crap that's been dealt to her.

This shows how Cinder came to live with her new family. Despite this being a fairy tale retelling, I just can’t get over evil stepmother Adri’s cold cruel heart that doesn’t have a millimeter of compassion for an orphan, and this was just too much depressing gloom.

I didn’t take the first half of this very seriously, but by the end I was happy that I read this because it does offer additional information that can benefit us readers as we go on through the rest of the books. It helps us to see what Garan was like, at least for a moment, and how everything started for Cinder amongst his family.

I would recommend that fans of The Lunar Chronicles read this. It’s not life-altering, but I think it’s worth the trouble.

Most notably, I have never felt affected by book covers before, but I think this is the #1 most beautiful book cover I have ever seen in my life. I feel like now I can finally make a favorite book covers list, if only because I’ve seen this gem. I love the style and the colors and especially the details of her facial expression and her arm.

This was a very cute story. It gave us some more insight on Cinder's family dynamics. I read it on the way to work, and was entertained. While I enjoyed it, I think it could have been expanded on a bit. It didn't add anything significant to the series (like world building),so you could skip it.

I enjoyed reading this but it really didn't add anything to the back story, IMO...I think all of the info from this story was mentioned in the actual story.

Sweet sad prequel short about Cinder's first two weeks with her family, giving us insight into the first days of her living memory, Garan, and the seeds of her dynamics with the rest of the family.
