These were some very interesting stories. I kind of wish they had been full length books, or at least novellas so that we could fully explore the themes that were being addressed. I was intrigued by A Necessary Being for the ideas it brought up, like what exactly ARE the Hao and what brought about the thought process that the clans NEEDED one to to thrive? There were hints but nothing that was able to be fully addressed in the limited pages.
Same with Childfinder and the apparent war brewing.

Really delightful little treats for the Butler fan; it’s great to see very bright and early work from a beloved author.

Can't get enough of Octavia Butler right now. I love her intensive look into caste, race, and systems within fantastical worlds she creates.

I really don't like science fiction, but Octavia might just be my exception.

Two short stories that really did it for me. The one about the children more so, was my favorite. The other one was a bit out of my range, which caused me to knock it down a few stars.
