I gave it a good shot but I’m fading. Great concept for sure but the character development just isn’t there for me to go the distance. DNF at 25%

I got a good chunk into this before the centaur-human romance started to kick in. Noped out before I was subjected to a sex scene. I'm guessing if I could have overlooked that, it was worth reading.

En ny sci-fi bok av Chalker. Lettlest og grei. Her kan man ikke snakke om troverdighet og sannsynlige konsepter. Heller kreativitet og noenlunde plausible forklaringer på alt det underlige Nathan og hans venner blir utsatt for. Boka ble første gang utgitt i 1977. Det er noe spesielt å lese slik en gammel sci-fi. Nostalgisk på ett vis, skremmende på et annet vis i og med at noe av det som var sci-fi dengang er faktiske forhold idag. Den teknologiske utviklingen har definitivt gått fremover de siste 35 år. Det er dette som gjør det så utrolig spennende med sci-fi litteraturen. Dette er ei god bok! Tung? Nei. Revolusjonerende? Kanskje i sin tid, nå er man mer vant med ideen av å lande på og utvikle andre planeter. Ref. den nylige suksessfulle landingen som ble foretatt på Mars. Boka kan trygt anbefales!

This was the second time around with this book, the first being when I was a teenager. It held up surprisingly well, not as amazing this time around but still nice to revisit the Well World.
