Really enjoyed the day in a life of, or snapshot feel of the family members. It was bittersweet at times because all you want is for the family to know they love each other when they can't express it

Interesting approach to telling a generational story.

DNF - I think Anne Tyler might have lost her touch

3.5 stars

My first Anne Tyler experience, a beautifully written family drama. I went in without knowing much at all and I enjoyed the ride - I could have read on for longer to be honest, I was pretty absorbed into the characters Tyler crafted. Looking forward to reading more of her back-catalogue.

I’m on a mother/ family stories kick. This is definitely a family story- some sadness some strife, some maddening drama and trauma. Story within the story was a little strange, but at the end we understand how it can play together in the book as a whole.
I appreciated the siblings storyline, as well as the dynamics at work for mothers.
Anne is a beautiful writer, woven in is the depiction of the times, the feelings of the people and the workings of dis function in a family.
Overall enjoyable without any excitement.
